Erhu (二胡)

Today’s picture was taken in an elderly couple’s apartment. This man (who we called “uncle”) is playing the erhu (or two-stringed fiddle), a traditional Chinese instrument with only two strings. He played a few traditional songs, one called “three horses” – in which the sound of the strings are made to sound like the lively whinnying of horses. Learn more about the erhu here!
